Evan Rachel Wood
Evan Rachel Wood was born in Raleigh,
North Carolina, on the 7th of September, 1987. Her father, Ira David Wood III
is a theater actor writer, director and writer, and her mother, Sara Wood, is
an actor and acting coach. Her older brothers include Dana Wood, a musician and
Ira David Wood IV who also have been actors. Evan and her brothers sometimes
appeared at Theatre In The Park in Raleigh, which her father founded and where
he serves as executive director. At the age five she screen-tested against Kirsten
Dunst for the lead role in Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles
(1994) after a long auditioning process. Together with her mother and brother
Ira the family moved to Los Angeles in 1996. Since since then, she's had
success in television series, movies on TV, and feature films. She was in
Practical Magic (1998) and starred in the comedy S1m0ne (2002) as the daughter
of actor Al Pacino. She followed that with Thirteen (2003) which starred Holly
Hunter. Her character of Tracy in "Thirteen," which she played in the
film, earned her a nomination from the Golden Globes for Best Performance by an
Actress in a Drama, and a nomination from the Screen Actors Guild Award for
Outstanding Performance By an Actress Female in the Leading Role. At the time
she received the award from SAG it was her youngest actress in the Leading Role
category. She received an Golden Globe and Emmy nomination for
"Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie" for her
portrayal of Veda Pierce in the HBO mini-series Mildred Pierce (2011). The same
award was given to her performance as Stephanie (Mickey Rourke's ex-wife) in
Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler (2008). Sara Wood and Ira David Wood III are
her parents. Ira David Wood IV's younger sister and Dana's younger sister. She
has been trained in dance. She is a fan of singing, swimming, rollerblade, and
go on horseback. She holds the black belt for tae do. She stays in touch with
many of her Once and Again (1999 castmates: Mischa Barrton, Julia Whelan and
Shane West.
